Srinivas Kota
Srinivas Kota

Srinivas Kota is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering Group under Work Integrated Learning Programmes Division (WILPD) of Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani. He has a PhD from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore, India in Design. He also had Post-Doctoral experience at Indian Institute of Science, India and G-SCOP Laboratory, INP Grenoble, France.
He has developed a software to help designers in estimating product lifecycle environmental impact and the associated uncertainty while designing. He has a research experience of 15 years and published papers in reputed journals and international conferences. His research interests are Product Design, Product Lifecycle Design, Sustainability, Uncertainty in Design and Virtual Reality for Design. He has a joint patent and reviewer of articles for several international reputed journals. He is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers and a member of several technical societies in India and abroad. His expertise includes design, delivery and administration of Experiential Learning Initiatives apart from course design and delivery, programme design and administration

Shashank Tiwari
Shashank Tiwari

Shashank Tiwari is an Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering Department of Birla Institute of Technology and Science Pilani. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering from NIT Raipur in 2002.  He received his Masters from the Materials and Metallurgical  Engineering department, IIT Kanpur in 2004.

He has 15 years of experince of research and product development in automotive industry. He has worked with General Motors R&D Bangalore and Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. Chennai before joining BITS Pilani in 2019. He is primarily involved in teaching WILP courses related to Engineering Materials, Advanced Materials, Composites and Plastics, Materials Technology and Testing and Fracture Mechanics. His research interests include automotive materials, structure property correlation, microstructure development during deformation, texture analysis, corrosion engineering etc. He has published over 21 reaearch papers in peer reviewed journals and conferences and have more than 15 conference publication and  presentation. He also has one US patent grant and 6 patent applications to his name.

S Raghuraman
S Raghuraman

S.Raghuraman  is currently Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering working as off campus faculty at Chennai. Raghuraman received his B.E. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Madurai Kamaraj University and M.E degree in Mechanical Engineering (Specialization in Refrigeration and Air conditioning) from Bharathiar university in 1992 and 1994 respectively.
He worked as a Senior Engineer (R&D) with National factory for Air conditioners in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1994 -2000. He had a career with Blue Star Limited, as senior manager (Product Development) from 2000-2004. He worked as Deputy General Manager (Design and Development) with Awal Gulf manufacturing at Kingdom of Bahrain from 2005 -2015 , before joining BITS Pilani from September 2015.
He teaches Concurrent Engineering, Product Design, Mechatronics, Thermodynamics courses.  Raghuraman had conducted certification program on Pumps, fans and Blowers besides functioning as member of team which delivered certification program on Instrumentation, control systems, Mechanical design elements such as Bearings, Shafts, and Fasteners.
His field of interest includes Alternate Refrigerants, Energy efficiency, control systems and new product development

Pavan Kumar Penumakala
Pavan Kumar Penumakala

Pavan Kumar Penumakala is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology and Science-Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati in 2008 and M. Tech degree in solid mechanics from Indian Institute of technology, Tirupati.  He received his Ph.D. in 2014 from Otto-von Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany in the area of mechanical process engineering.

His research interests focus on multiphysics modeling using Finite element Method.  He developed algorithms for thermal-mechanical coupled problems with application to the simulation of manufacturing processes such as casting, forming and additive manufacturing. He is currently teaching courses such as Finite Element Method, Advanced Composites, Composite Materials and Design, Materials Science and Engineering and Advanced Mechanics of Solids. 

Prof Sandip Deshmukh
Prof Sandip Deshmukh

Prof. Sandip Deshmukh is working as an Associate Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department of BITS Pilani – Hyderabad campus, India from 2012. Before joining the Hyderabad Campus, he was working at the Centre for Environmental Strategy, University of Surrey, UK as a Research Fellow from 2008 to 2012, working on EPSRC funded research projects. Before joining the centre, he worked for five years as a Lecturer at Amravati University, India and for eight years as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor at BITS, Pilani – Pilani Campus, India. He holds a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and Master’s in Thermal Power Engineering from Amravati University and a Ph.D. from BITS, Pilani on ‘Region-wise Development of Integrated Renewable Energy Systems’. His main research interests relate to regional energy planning with a focus on decentralized energy supply options and energy resource allocation for socio-economic and techno-economic development; and has more than 15 international journal publications to his credit. He has expertise in identifying and characterizing options for energy supply for different development types and their integration with other service sectors such as water, waste and transport. He has a teaching subject expertise in various subjects such as: Thermodynamics, Prime Movers and Fluid Machines, Power Plant Engineering, I C Engines, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Energy Conservation, etc.
